Donald Trump’s Historic Return: Highlights from His 2025 Inauguration

 




On January 20, 2025, Donald J. Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking a historic return to the White House for a non-consecutive second term. The ceremony took place inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C., a decision influenced by extreme cold and high winds.

Inauguration Ceremony Highlights



The inauguration commenced with the swearing-in of Vice President JD Vance, administered by Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Following this, Chief Justice John Roberts administered the presidential oath to Donald Trump at 12:01 p.m. EST. Notably, during the oath, President Trump did not place his hand on a Bible, a departure from traditional practice. This may be an oversight on his part and not intentional, as First Lady Melania Trump can be clearly seen standing beside him holding up two historic Bibles for him to place his hand on. Some observers believed that Chief Justice Robert would have been the one to draw his attention and not only ask him to raise his right hand. 




The ceremony featured a flawless performance by singer Carrie Underwood, who delivered a cappella rendition of "America the Beautiful" due to technical difficulties. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including tech industry leaders and foreign representatives. Former President Joe Biden was present, and so were Former presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush Jnr, and Barrack Obama exemplifying a peaceful transfer of power.

President Trump's Inaugural Address

In his inaugural address, President Trump declared the onset of a "golden age of America," emphasizing themes of national renewal and unity. He outlined several key initiatives:

(1) Immigration and Border Security: President Trump announced plans to declare a national emergency at the southern border to address illegal immigration. He emphasized the need to end birthright citizenship and classify Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

(2) Energy Independence: He declared a "national energy emergency," aiming to achieve energy independence through expanded drilling and fracking on U.S. soil. Additionally, he pledged to revoke the Green New Deal. 

(3) Economic Policies: The President expressed intentions to impose tariffs on imported goods and initiate large-scale deportation efforts. He also highlighted plans to restore American manufacturing and end foreign advantages, such as China's control over the Panama Canal.

(4) Government Efficiency: Trump announced the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency to eliminate waste and streamline federal operations. 

(4) Social Policies: He pledged to restore free speech, ensure a colorblind and merit-based society, support the military, and end race and gender social engineering. 

(5) Space Exploration: The President articulated plans to continue America's legacy of exploration, aiming to send astronauts to Mars. 

President Trump's address, lasting nearly 30 minutes, was the longest inaugural speech in modern history according to The Times & The Sunday Times

He concluded with a call for unity, stating, "Together, we will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again."
